Flipper Ball
Johnsonville School participates in the Flippa Ball competition at Keith Spry Pool, during terms 2 and 3. The games are played on Fridays after school, from 3:45pm. Keith Spry Pool is at 15 Frankmoore Avenue, Johnsonville.
Flippa Ball is a fun team game designed to introduce players to the fundamentals of water polo. The competition is graded to accommodate both middle syndicate students in the shallow grade and senior syndicate students in the deep grade. Students must have a good level of water confidence to play. There are seven players in the pool, with one being the goalie. The teams can also have substitute players. Fair play points awarded as well as goals. The cost is a registration fee and the usual pool entrance per player each week. Check out www.sportsground.co.nz/flippaball for more information.
In 2011 Johnsonville School entered the Johnsonville Dragons in the deep grade, and the Johnsonville Twisters in the shallow grade. The Johnsonville Dragons came out undefeated! The players had an awesome time participating and enjoy playing as a team. A big thank you goes out to the parents who coached the teams and gave up their time to support their children at the matches. We’re looking forward to another competition in 2012!
